The Role
Join us as a Senior Legal Officer and be part of a dynamic, purposeful, and collaborative legal team. Your responsibilities will include providing top-notch legal services through research, analysis, and problem-solving. You'll work with dedicated internal clients who are committed to nurturing sustainable agriculture, fisheries, and forestry. In addition, you will play a key role in leading and supporting other legal officers in your team, ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives while fostering an inclusive and effective environment.

This selection process is for ongoing and non-ongoing positions in Canberra. The merit pool created will remain valid for 18 months from the vacancy advertisement date and may be used to fill future vacancies within the division.

Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidates will demonstrate:
Knowledge and Experience
A minimum of 3 to 6 years of relevant post-admission experience and expertise in the legal areas mentioned.

Mandatory Requirements
To be considered for these roles, candidates must have a law degree and eligibility for an ACT legal practising certificate.

Eligibility
Citizenship - Australian citizenship is a must for employment with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Security Clearance - Baseline Vetting security clearance is required for this position and must be obtained and maintained.

Pre-employment Checks - Candidates will undergo pre-employment screening, including National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance, and possibly a pre-employment medical assessment.

MSIC and ASIC Licences - For roles requiring access within aviation or maritime security zones, candidates must hold and keep an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) or Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
