About The Role Reporting to the General Manager Risk, Assurance & Systems this role will provide independent assurance through the auditing and review of internal standards and controls to ensure WHC are operating within risk appetite.

The role will support the General Manager Risk, Assurance & Systems in implementing and maintaining a robust Assurance procedure and schedule for the company.

The role will coordinate assurance activities on site and desktop including the collaboration of internal Subject Matter Experts.

The individual will play a critical role in the planning, monitoring and review of the WHC Strategy and Risk Management Principals to ensure consistent application across the Business while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do
Lead the third line of assurance in alignment with the Whitehaven Coal Risk Framework
Development and implementation of Operational Assurance procedure, reporting template & schedule of review, and ensure all relevant standards and risks are captured in Assurance schedule per frequency of auditing classification
Coordinate assurance activities inclusive of internal and external subject matter experts, and be responsible for the evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of internal control systems and processes
Support Risk / Control Owners with action assignment based on assurance activity findings, and deliver on designated timelines for annual reviews, assurance schedule and reporting requirements

Provide necessary services to support WHC in Third Line of Defence process including engagement with external auditors, and provide data sourced from assurance activities for the development of the WHC 5 year plan ensuring there is clear integration with WHC strategic and business outcomes within operational plans.

Provide input into improvements of the HSE Management Systems and Frameworks to enhance the support they provide to the business needs while achieving desired HSE business outcomes, and provide timely, practical and pragmatic advice to operational leaders on assurance related matters and issues that improve performance, support change implementation, manage risks and assist in decision making What You'll Bring Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to engage and influence large and diverse teams at multiple levels in the organisation focusing on customer requirements
Ability to work autonomously, with strong analytical and conceptual skills
Works with honesty and integrity
Tertiary qualifications in Risk, Financial or other suitable qualification (preferred)
