The Business Banking (BB) technology team is responsible for the technology solutions that support 55,000+ digitally engaged business banking customers. We are passionate about empowering businesses and individuals to succeed with the next horizon of technology – to become the leading digital business bank in Australia. We also use technology to drive simplicity and better banking, an essential component of great customer service underpinning a strong emphasis on software development as a craft and the adoption of industry best engineering practices.

As a Principal Engineer, you'll be a core member of the BB Digital engineering team, expected to lead the strategy and adoption of engineering best practices across BB Tech. CommBiz is going through a major modernisation journey and need Engineering Support. You will be working with engineers on uplifting business capabilities and modernise our tech stack. You'll be hands-on coding and be responsible for shaping the evolution of our BB Digital assets by designing and developing micro services, enable identity standards (OAuth, OIDC, SAML), data access layers, REST API(s), and writing integration services for third-party API consumption, manage risk with safe deployments and automated testing. You will provide core technology and domain expertise to inform technical strategy and lead the design of solutions for complex challenges within a business unit. Also, you'll have a strong risk mindset in ensuring that appropriate cyber security controls are implemented. You will play a significant mentoring role in providing technical assistance to the engineers in the team.

Experience in delivering complex and high value digital solutions Experience in delivering solution with complex integration patterns Experience in working on major technology transformation program Demonstrated experience in Security by Design principles as applied to digital applications Familiarity with identity federation technologies and access control models. (SAML 2.0, WSFederation, WS-Trust etc.) Ability to collaborate, present ideas, influence and challenge stakeholders. You're actively involved in continuous learning, experimentation and innovation, ready to apply and promote industry best patterns and practices, driving high quality outcomes to solve core business objectives You're constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems Exposure to BIAN framework is a plus

Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, technology and frameworks. We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team

Strong technical proficiency in SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, LDAP, Cryptography and related standards. Delivering solutions that meet high targets in performance, availability, data integrity and security domains Proficient with modern languages such as Java, .NET, Python, or similar is a plus API-based integration Event-based integration Current state-of-the-art digital development frameworks Working with cloud infrastructure - AWS or Azure
