About the Job:

  • Full-time role with a government client, providing security operation support to the team for a migration project.
  • 6-month contract based in Geelong, requiring 3 days per week in the office.

JOB PURPOSE

The Security Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the management of effective cyber security of the organisation's information systems, networks and data. They will provide support to ensure the organisation's security policy and practices are implemented and are commensurate with the evolving cyber security landscape. In addition they will be responsible for supporting the management of the end-to-end vulnerability and cyber threat management and will support vendors and partners to ensure robust security measures are in place to protect the organisations information systems networks and data.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The provision of operational security management and administrative services, including but not limited to, the authorisation and monitoring of access to IT systems or infrastructure, the investigation of unauthorised access and compliance with relevant legislation. SCAD
  • Explains the purpose of, and provides advice and guidance on, the application and operation of elementary physical, procedural and technical security controls. Performs security risk, vulnerability assessments, and business impact analysis for medium complexity information systems. Investigates suspected attacks and manages security incidents. Uses forensics where appropriate. SCTY4
  • Maintains security administration processes and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. Provides guidance in defining access rights and privileges. Investigates security breaches in accordance with established procedures and recommends required actions and supports / follows up to ensure these are implemented. SCAD4
  • Coordinates and manages planning of penetration tests, within a defined area of business activity. Delivers objective insights into the existence of vulnerabilities, the effectiveness of defences and mitigating controls - both those already in place and those planned for future implementation. Takes responsibility for integrity of testing activities and coordinates the execution of these activities. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on the planning and execution of vulnerability tests. Defines and communicates the test strategy. Manages all test processes, and contributes to corporate security testing standards. PENT5
  • Monitors the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies. Assesses and documents the impacts, threats and opportunities to the organisation. Creates reports and technology roadmaps and shares knowledge and insights with others. EMRG5
  • Actively maintains recognised expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms. Provides definitive and expert advice in their specialist area(s). Oversees the provision of specialist advice by others, consolidates expertise from multiple sources, including third party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives. Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation. TECH5
  • Ensures implementation of information and records management policies and standard practice. Ensures effective controls are in place for internal delegation, audit and control relating to information and records management. Assesses and manages risks around the use of information. Provides reports on the consolidated status of information controls to inform effective decision making. Recommends remediation actions as required. Ensures that information is presented effectively. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/ or substantial IT systems management and industry experience.
  • ITIL v3 Qualification/s
  • Significant experience in a similar role, managing the end-to-end delivery of IT Security services in a multi sourced environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with strong customer focus and ability to understand issues, manage expectations, gain agreement, resolve conflicts and translate technical information into business language.
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing business and other stakeholders to drive positive service outcomes and the ability to influence.
  • Experience managing IT security in an environment that is constantly changing and evolving to meet customer needs, including the growing move to cloud computing (IAAS and SAAS).
  • Experience managing request and incident management processes in an ITIL environment.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills to drive improvements in innovation and service quality. Demonstrated achievements in driving innovative solution delivery.
