About the Position:


In partnership with our leading council client, WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Major Economic Development Initiatives Lead, based within Logan.

This position will be Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (40 hours per week), on a casual basis and will have a 10 month initial casual duration, with potential for extension.

This role will lead, coordinate, prioritise and deliver major economic development initiatives and projects and work with internal and external partners in driving economic and community-based growth opportunities across the activity centres in the City of Logan.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the delivery of key strategic and corporate projects within the Economic Development & City Planning Branch.

Provide expert project management leadership including:
Application of appropriate project management methodologies
Detailed scoping and development of project briefs, project management plans, including setting of clear objectives
Negotiate and secure appropriate resources / partners to implement delivery
Establish and lead relevant steering committees and working groups
Manage the agreed work schedule, ensuring appropriate allocation of activities and milestone targets and monitor overall project progress
Effective and efficient use of available resources
Identification of both strategic and operational risks and implementation of appropriate mitigation actions
Preparation and presentation of progress reports at regular intervals to various stakeholders

Conduct research and analysis on market trends and opportunities to identify potential areas for economic growth.

Develop and implement economic development plans and initiatives to drive growth in the region.

Develop and manage budgets for economic development initiatives and ensure that programs are executed within established limits.

Manage and coordinate procurement processes for project development activities in compliance with Council's policies, procedures and requirements.

Undertake feasibilitiy studies for complex economic development initiatives


Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industry leaders, community members, and government officials, to support economic development efforts.


Skills and Experience:

To succeed in this role, you need to have experience in:
Project Management

Significant experience in project management practices including demonstrated experience in the development of supporting governance frameworks, systems and processes.

Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver a portfolio of projects that have broad strategic engagement and/or broad organisational impact.

Demonstrated experience solving complex problems requiring strategic thought and independent judgement.
Stakeholder Engagement


Proven track record in working productively and collaboratively to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver on agreed outcomes.

Demonstrated skills in consultation, negotiation and networking in a complex stakeholder, Policy and legislative environment.

Communication


Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for effective communication, planning and control of multi-disciplined work groups in relation to projects undertaken by the Branch and across Council.

Produce complex reports, correspondence and briefing material for senior, executive management and elected officials.

Ensure professional and respectful communication with customers and external stakeholders.

Hold or be willing to obtain an National Police History Check

Possession of a current "C" class driver's licence.
