Post-doctoral position Artificial Intelligence-Oncology: Medical Decision Support System.

The Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering (MSE) at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL has an opening for a post-doctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Nezamoddin Kachouie to start immediately. The position requires interest and expertise in statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and medical image analysis. Specifically, we are seeking candidates experienced in nonparametric statistics, genomic data analysis, medical image analysis, mixed models, implementation of different deep learning (neural network) architectures including Transformer, U-Net, R-CNN, and SOM, and have experience with optimization techniques.

The position offers the opportunity to gain experience in data assimilation, comprehensive data analysis, statistical modeling, medical system design, and AI system integration to prepare the successful candidate for a role in either academia or industry. We are seeking a candidate to drive mechanistic study in a multidisciplinary fashion through intersection of AI, modeling, imaging, oncology, patient care, genomics, and statistics. The successful candidate will be integral to an interdisciplinary team and interface with senior faculty in the Mathematics and Systems Engineering at Florida Tech and an internationally recognized cancer institute.

The results of this research will be communicated by published outcomes in high-impact journals by our group and offer collaborative opportunities with academic and industry partners. We are seeking self-motivated and creative individuals with interpersonal skills, to be able to work effectively with others in a team setting, interested in translational opportunities, and eager in mentoring students and junior scientists. Successful candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualified candidates should hold a PhD degree in computer science, statistics, data science, machine learning, or a related discipline with a proven record of peer-reviewed publications, strong programming skills in Python, R, and MATLAB, and experience with ArcGIS.

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech's 2023 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public properly within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.
