With significant growth planned, our Lived Experience team are an integral part of implementing recovery approaches for mental health consumers and carers.

Lived experience workers bring expertise developed from their own mental health experiences. This role will require you participate across the prisons,community and inpatient services.

Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre. Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team.

Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure Mental Health, currently 134 bed, hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs.

With planned expansion commencing 2024 with significant increase in access to care, we will have a dedicated Women's service and an additional medium secure men's facility.

About the Role:

The role of the Peer worker is to support consumers either 1:1 or in a group setting. This will be in conjunction with a Multidisciplinary team, with the consumer in the centre of their recovery.

Duties:

  • Use your own lived experience of recovery to demonstrate encourage Hope
  • Work alongside a Multidisciplinary team to achieve best outcomes for individuals
  • Facilitate or co facilitate group activities
  • Advocate for the needs of consumers

About You:

  • Have a lived or living experience of the criminal justice system or mental health system as a consumer or carer.
  • Be willing to work as part of a growing lived experience team
  • Be part of a Multidisciplinary team
  • Encourage consumer participation in service design.

  • A personal lived experience of being a mental health consumer or carer of a mental health consumer.
