Literacy plays a crucial role in learning, impacting various aspects of life including academic, social, emotional, economic, and health outcomes. We are looking for two enthusiastic Principal Project Officers with current P-6 teaching experience, a profound understanding of the Australian Curriculum, expert knowledge in evidence-informed best practices for effective reading instruction, and familiarity with the Department's key literacy monitoring tools and initiatives.

The Department of Education is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce that mirrors the community and schools it serves, treating everyone with respect from recruitment to ongoing support.

Your Role:

  • Provide high-level strategic advice to senior management and clients supporting the Australian Curriculum implementation;
  • Develop various resources to back key literacy and reading initiatives;
  • Conduct research and engage with stakeholders to create support materials aligning with Departmental policy;
  • Assist in preparing briefing materials, reports, and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.

About You:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Department's literacy and reading initiatives;
  • In-depth knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and contemporary teaching practices;
  • Proven experience in effective reading instruction and literacy monitoring;
  • Skilled in project management, stakeholder engagement, and communication.
