  • Mater Mother's Hospital is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Level 5 or 6 Registrar interested in enhancing their open and laparoscopic skills in pelvic surgery. This role has been created due to the growing demands for generalist O&G professionals to possess advanced surgical skills, with limited chances for trainees to develop these skills outside subspecialty training routes.
  • You will become a part of a team managing 80 to 100 new or suspected cancer referrals monthly and leading a robust Multidisciplinary Tumour Board. As a member of the Gynaecology Oncology team, the successful candidate will gain exposure to complex pelvic conditions and surgeries, along with highly specialized surgical procedures like pelvic exenteration and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) during cytoreductive surgery. This position also allows for the enhancement of skills in high-risk obstetrics in the antenatal and intrapartum settings, within Australia's largest maternity hospital.
  • The AT Gynaecology-Oncology role involves a minimum of 20 weeks in the Mater Gynaecological Oncology service, participating in about 2 full-day operating lists per week and monthly robotic lists. Active engagement in the weekly MDT case discussions involving oncology, radiology, and pathology, as well as ample research opportunities. The remaining training period will focus on general gynaecology and tertiary level obstetrics care. Interested registrars can also partake in the Mater Flying O&G Service, which includes week-long gynaecology-focused rotations in rural and regional Queensland. Mater Mothers Hospitals have a dynamic education, audit, and research program, and the successful candidate is expected to actively participate in these initiatives.
