Senior Project Manager

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Mcnab Constructions Full time

You will work closely with our design and estimating team pre-construction to identify opportunities, mitigate risk, plan resourcing and programme, embed safety in design and delivery, engage with the consultant team and facilitate commercial relationships.

On the job you will be exceptional at utilising your team.
You will manage the project budget, costs on site, variations, payment schedules and all mandatory reporting.

You will be accountable for team performance, setting expectations, creating opportunities, understanding individuals' motivators and tapping into their unique strengths.

You will drive the vision for your projects and manage the overall programme, adjusting as you go to create opportunities and respond to change.

You will also manage the head contract, letting schedule and subcontract/supply agreements, and own the client relationship, engaging regularly to ensure their needs are met and contract conditions are being executed.

We work collaboratively at Mc Nab, we celebrate our achievements together and we have each other's backs.

We show up every day knowing that we're all working towards the same goal, with our clients, our subcontractors and our suppliers.

We all share the same values and everyone is part of the Mc Nab team.

About you You are a construction management specialist, a leader of people, a manager of performance and an advocate for safety.

You own the results of your projects, you run them as you would your own business, and you get great pride from leading your team – this is what makes you one of the best at what you do.

Your technical knowledge is second to none, but equally so are your people skills.

You know how to get the best from a team, driving high performance and providing the right support where needed.

Some days you'll be managing a business more so than managing a construction site, and you're equally equipped to do both.

You are uncompromising in your quality standards, you appreciate the importance of systems and processes, and you're committed to training and coaching your team, from your foremen and contract administrators to apprentices and cadets.

You invest in your subcontractors and ensure they hold the same values and safety standards as we do.

You genuinely care about what success looks like for your clients and actively engage with them to deliver a solution that's right for all parties.

About Mc Nab First established in Toowoomba 27 years ago, Mc Nab now has more than 500 staff across four offices.

We've built up an enviable reputation for delivering high quality, award winning developments, with 9 out of 10 projects coming from referrals and repeat clients.

We genuinely care; we make it easy; we deliver certainty.
This is our promise to our clients, and everyone we deal with.
Delivering on these three things really, really well is what drives us.

We're not satisfied with just meeting expectations; we consistently set out to exceed them and create mutually beneficial relationships that last for the long term.

The not-so-ordinary construction company.

At Mc Nab, we believe ordinary industry measures like time, cost and quality should be a given, not a benchmark.

So we go the extra mile to really understand what success looks like for you, and turn-up each day with 100% of our passion, energy and unique smarts to make it happen.

We rarely apply for our own construction awards, instead we support our clients to make incredible return on investments and the accolades that go with a socially and financially successful project.

Industry bodies like UDIA and Property Council of Australia have awarded two projects we've built as the Best Overall Development in Australia in 2015 and Best Overall Development in QLD in 2016.

Not bad for a "mid tier" construction company.

Our approach works, with over 80% of our projects sourced from long-term repeat clients and an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from our clients so far in 2016.

These clients are the leading brands and thinkers in their field, clients who demand the not-so-ordinary from their teams as well as from themselves.

What we do.
We're a design, construction and civil team that personally invests and cares about our client's projects.

We get called when there's a tricky project in the $3m - $50m range that requires more delivery certainty than you'd get from a typical mid-size contractor, yet more flexibility and price certainty than a large 'Tier One' company.

We work with the leaders in the following sectors:

  • Aged Care, Retirement, and Health
  • Residential, Student Accommodation, and Hotels
  • Retail and Big Box
  • Industrial and Agribusiness
  • Solar, Gas and Mining Our 20 year history in 220 words.

Mc Nab was created 20 years ago on the premise that building can be a fun and an exciting experience for both the builder and their client, whilst still offering a competitive price in one of the most competitive industries in Australia.

We do this by finding people in the industry with genuine passion and understanding of clients, combined with smarter design and construction techniques and low overheads.

Our first ever client actually loaned us their ute so that an up-and-coming builder Michael Mc Nab could get to the job.

20 years later we're about to build another of their projects, this time 10 times larger.

Our second ever customer was Nippon Meats, and over two decades we've continued to complete over 30 projects both big and small.

We could go on but that would take more than 220 words.

There's no one secret ingredient, just a group of not-so-ordinary people with a focus on building incredible projects and long term relationship along the way.
