About the Role

You will be joining a highly skilled and motivated team and must be able to act autonomously, be a great communicator, and be able to multi task. Discharge co-ordination is also a major part of this role. We operate a Family Centred Care Model within our unit and aim to provide high quality care to our babies and their families. We focus on care plans, discharge planning and education to enable safe and early discharge to reunite the family unit.

About Us

The Special Care Nursery at Dandenong Hospital is a 3 bed Level 3 Nursery with facilities for ongoing neonatal care. Our priority is looking after any unwell babies from our busy birth unit/maternity ward, also offering CPAP and High flow. We are part of Monash newborn Team and we work together across sites to ensure that newborn babies and their families receive the best care and we able to get babies closer to home.

You are passionate about caring for newborns and their families and providing the best possible start to life for these vulnerable infants. To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Current AHPRA registration to practice independently as a Registered Nurse
  • Previous midwifery, neonatal or paediatric nursing experience
