In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and managing complex data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with stakeholders.This position will safeguard the integrity of ICT databases, servers, and services, and establish technology implementation standards to ensure the University's data systems are reliable and of top-notch quality.As a Curtin Data Engineer, you will:
  • Design, build, and manage Curtin's data lake, complex data pipelines, and integration processes.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to comprehend business needs and provide data solutions.
  • Offer technical support, contribute to tech projects, and mentor team members.
  • Assist in service continuity planning and maintain the integrity of ICT databases and services.
  • Record technical standards and processes and offer expert advice to management and business owners.
We are seeking someone with:
  • Relevant qualifications and experience, particularly certifications in AWS data analytics, DevOps, AI/ML, and solution architecture.
  • Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, AWS CDK / Infrastructure as Code, SQL, Cloud Infra Cost Management.
  • Experience in data warehousing, integration, and management of substantial datasets.
  • A solid foundation in computer science, mathematics, and statistics.
  • Knowledge of data engineering tools and techniques including ETL, data modeling, and reporting.
  • The ability to contribute to team and business objectives, operate within Agile environments, and exhibit analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a dedication to client focus.
Successful candidates will also possess expertise in the following:
  • Qualifications: Possession of AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate, AWS Certified Data Analytics – Speciality, Machine Learning Engineer, or other relevant cloud data engineering certifications.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery in data warehousing, ETL, data modeling, and reporting.
  • Data Visualisation Tools: Demonstrated experience with diverse data visualization and analytics tools such as QuickSight, Power BI.
  • DevOps Practices: Familiarity with DevOps procedures, including pipelines, version control, and collaborative development.
  • ITIL Processes and Tools: Understanding of IT service management and work management aligned with ITIL practices and tools.
This permanent role necessitates current work rights in Australia that align with the tenure of this position to be considered. The role is located at our Curtin Bentley campus, and candidates should either currently reside in Perth, WA, or show a willingness to relocate.
