The Costs Court hears cost disputes between litigants arising from court proceedings in all jurisdictions in Victoria and, those between legal practitioners and their clients under the legal profession legislation.
It is situated within the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria.An exciting opportunity exists to work with Judicial Registrar Conidi who is responsible for the Costs Court. Judicial Registrar Conidi also conducts judicial mediations in the common law and commercial law jurisdictions of the Supreme Court.
The VPSG3 Associate fixed term role will commence in April 2023 for a term of 12 months.
Judicial Registrar Conidi is seeking a legally qualified individual to be his Associate.
The Associate will be required to provide high-level legal and administrative support to the Judicial Registrar and the Costs Registrars, both in chambers and in the courtroom.
Legal qualifications and demonstrated legal research skills are required for the role.- Maintaining electronic court files and case management systems
- Attending judicial mediations
- Legal research
- Managing the Judicial Registrar's diary
- Clerking in court (including virtually)
- Liaising with judicial officers, practitioners, court staff, and members of the public
The successful applicant will have a high level of verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills required to work in a team environment and engage with members of the public and legal practitioners.
