As a Maintenance Manager with a trade qualification in either Electrical or Mechanical, along with experience in retail, production, or e-commerce warehousing operations, your role would be critical in ensuring the smooth functioning and reliability of equipment and systems in the facility.


Your primary responsibilities would involve overseeing the maintenance and repair of various equipment, machinery, and systems to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.


Here are some key aspects of your role:

  • Equipment Maintenance: You'll be responsible for creating and implementing maintenance schedules for all electrical or mechanical equipment in the warehouse. This may include conveyor systems, forklifts, packaging machines, HVAC systems, lighting, and other critical machinery.
  • Troubleshooting: As issues arise, you'll need to diagnose problems with the equipment and determine the appropriate solutions. Quick and accurate troubleshooting is crucial to minimize downtime and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implementing a preventive maintenance program is essential to avoid unexpected breakdowns and costly repairs. Regular inspections and servicing of equipment will be part of your responsibilities.

You'll need to manage the maintenance budget efficiently, ensuring that expenses are within budget limits while maintaining equipment reliability and safety.


  • Compliance and Safety: Ensuring compliance with electrical and mechanical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards is paramount. As a Maintenance Manager, you'll take charge of safety training and promote a culture of safety among the maintenance staff.
  • Team Management: Overseeing a team of maintenance technicians and mechanics will be part of your role. You'll need to schedule their tasks, provide guidance, and assess their performance.
  • Inventory Management: Keeping track of spare parts inventory and ensuring critical components are readily available when needed is essential to minimize downtime.
  • Vendor Relations: You may need to liaise with external vendors and suppliers to source spare parts, equipment, or services, negotiating contracts when necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying areas for improvement in maintenance processes, efficiency, and reliability will be an ongoing part of your responsibilities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and repairs performed is essential for analysis and future planning.
