About the team


Our Network Assets and Assurance (NA&A) team includes more than 2000 people from Infrastructure, Innovation, Engineering, Rolling Stock, OCMS, Strategic Asset Management and Planning and Integration.


The NA&A team manage the change to the network - ensuring that the asset outcome is safe, reliable and sustainable, both today and into the future.

This role is based at E-Gate, Docklands in our Infrastructure Electrical Networks team.

About the role


The purpose of the Production Manager - Overheads position is to be responsible for the direct supervision, planning, controlling, and monitoring of the Overheads staff and tasks on a Night roster.

This includes undertaking activities as directed by the Electrical Networks Delivery Manager or his/her delegates.

This role is night shift only, Sunday to Wednesday, 19:00pm to 05:30am and on-call on a Thursday.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Ensure completion and compliance to the Electrical Networks Technical Maintenance Plan and associated documents.
  • Critical examination of work practices to identify problems and initiate/develop alternative work procedures to improve quality, safety and efficiency
  • Ensure adequate Overhead resources are available for emergency conditions to restore services within critical timeframes, and that these procedures are adhered to for emergency works
  • Ensure all information systems used by subordinates are effective with correct information input
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation and/or Contracts relating to services in the areas of routine and reactive maintenance, renewals, system alterations and upgrades and new works
  • Assist with technical advice and staff supervision for Infrastructure maintenance and renewal works
  • Attend major system failures during and after normal hours and supervise staff in restoration of services
  • Provide guidance and assistance to main client groups in the scheduling of overheads resource availability in line with resource demands and available windows of planned power outages
  • Conduct tool box meetings with staff and record and report to Overheads Maintenance Manager
  • Produce and provide regular reports to the Manager on all aspects of work in progress
  • Any other duties as specified by a manager.
About you

  • Technical tertiary Engineering related qualification OR Certificate IV in rail or electrical related discipline
  • Experience in the rail industry preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff (verbal and written)
  • Identify and analyse risks, and make corrective actions
  • Implement the practices and procedures of the Technical Maintenance Plan
  • Create budgets and financial plans
  • Ability to read technical and nontechnical documents and summarise for others
  • Ability to schedule work priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to
