Job Summary



We are looking for an experienced Petroleum Engineering (PE) professional to join our Unconventional Reservoir Engineering Department (URED) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Reporting to the Manager of the UR Development Strategy and Reserves Division, the PE should have broad experience in the unconventional upstream oil and gas industry. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and expertise in Economic Evaluation, Business Planning, Budgeting, Field Development, Depletion Plans, Investment Decision Analysis, Risk, and Uncertainty.

URED offers high-level technical support to upstream management focusing on unconventional field development within the Kingdom. The role demands critical technical expertise, managerial skills, and exceptional communication abilities. The successful candidate will propose strategic options for unconventional development with a focus on economic evaluation. Additionally, the candidate will apply holistic modeling and decision analysis techniques to optimize the upstream portfolio within the Company's strategy, along with liaison responsibilities with internal organizations like Finance, Corporate Strategy, Market Analysis, and Reserves.


Responsibilities:
  • Conduct economic modeling to support development for commercial assessment.
  • Perform economic evaluations to facilitate quick development decisions, collaborating closely with functions like Corporate Finance, Strategy, and Reserves.
  • Undertake Risk & Uncertainty assessment of technical and financial components.
  • Execute scenario planning and sensitivity studies as directed by Management.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to strategize and execute field development plans.
  • Expertise in Reserves estimation, validation, and booking for unconventional plays.
  • Understanding of business planning processes, including short- & long-range planning and portfolio ranking.
  • Provide economic and operational benchmarking of North American Unconventional Plays.
  • Develop and implement new work processes, best technical practices, governance, and controls.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced engineers, effectively communicating ideas, concepts, and techniques.
  • Represent the Company in external forums.

Requirements:

This role requires candidates to permanently relocate to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.



Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field, with an advanced degree in Petroleum Economics or Statistics considered advantageous.

12-15 years of experience, including 5-8 years in unconventional plays like shale, tight sand, or channel reservoirs. Experience in unconventional hydrocarbon basins is required, with preference for candidates experienced in unconventional greenfield development.

Knowledge of applications such as PEEP, MOSAIC, Enersight, PVTsim, ProjectRA, and Spotfire is necessary. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle ambiguity in analysis, strong computer and data analysis/statistical skills, proficiency in visualization using Spotfire, economic sensitivities, business planning acumen, organizational and time management skills, limited data competence, excellent written and verbal communication skills, broad knowledge in drilling, stimulation, and production technologies.
