Council is excited to offer a traineeship opportunity for a motivated person who has an interest in gaining practical work experience and technical training as a storeperson.


The objective of the program is to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to complete the Traineeship, with a view to establishing a career in the chosen area.

The Traineeship program requires the successful applicant to enter a Training Contract for up to two (2) years commencing in 2023.


As part of their individual Training Plan Trainees are required to undertake and complete as part of their individual Training Plans an approved course at a NSW TAFE Campus or through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

It is likely that the course will be delivered through an online learning platform.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

General information
Trainees commence as 1st year Trainees and are trained under the instruction of a suitably qualified supervisor. You may be required to rotate between job locations to gain on-the-job experience for the duration of the traineeship. Council offers an excellent development program with exposure to many facets of the job throughout the course. _ What you will do in the trainee position:_

  • Carry out a broad range of duties associated with the replenishment, receipt, control, storage and issue of inventory and direct purchase materials
  • Update and maintain inventory and other records and transactions
  • Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers by being responsive to enquiries, required tasks and resolving issues and /or escalate to the supervisor where necessary
  • Gain an understanding of customer needs and, where appropriate, suggest solutions that ensure inventory offered is fit for purpose
  • Safely operate and maintain assigned plant and equipment required for stores operations including the stores vehicle and forklifts
  • Carry out other stores related labouring, cleaning and maintenance duties and tasks as instructed by the supervisor
  • Ensure the work area is kept in a safe and acceptable condition and the security of stores inventory as appropriate
  • Perform any other duties, tasks or projects as directed.

  • Minimum education requirement
  • Year 10 School Certificate or RoSA (Record of School Achievement) or equivalent leaving certificate
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in the chosen trade or area
  • Be an Australian Citizen or granted permanent residency status
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
This role provides a commencing salary range of $443.39 to $760.08 per week ($23.k to $39.6k per annum % Superannuation.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role.
