Role Overview: The EL1 Assistant Director, Evidence Synthesis, supports the planning and conduct of evidence reviews (systematic reviews, meta-analyses) and primary research to provide top-quality research evidence for Agency decisions. This junior leadership role involves team management, priority setting, and workflow oversight, with reasonable autonomy to apply initiative and judgment in interpreting legislation and policy to achieve functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with internal & external stakeholders to scope, develop, and manage project plans
- Designing and documenting protocols for environmental scans, evidence snapshots, scoping, or systematic reviews of evidence relevant to participants or models of practice
- Conducting searches of scientific and grey literature following PRISMA standards
- Performing research as per protocols for inclusion/exclusion of records, data extraction, quality appraisal, and data synthesis
- Maintaining project-related records including research software or platforms
- Engaging with stakeholders to interpret findings and support translation
- Preparing and presenting research reports and recommendations for various stakeholders, including internal summaries for stakeholders
- Contributing methodological or subject matter expertise in research methods, psychosocial disability, early childhood interventions, or neurological disorders
- Supervising a small team on an ad-hoc or ongoing basis
- Supporting the growth of junior staff
- Leading or supporting broader projects across the Branch
Essential qualities to succeed in this role:
- Planning and executing systematic reviews of research evidence
- Familiarity with evidence synthesis methods
- Prior research experience in disability, psychology, medicine, epidemiology, education, economics, or related fields
- Prior experience in government or NGOs not necessary
- Current valid NPC or ability to obtain one
