About the role
We're seeking a mechanically minded Maintenance Fitter Apprentices to join our Austral Bricks Plant in Rochedale, Queensland.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be trained to ensure all maintenance systems within the Plant are maintained and identify any potential preventative maintenance requirements.


You will be trained to perform the following duties:

  • Preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance to achieve optimal operational requirements whilst maintaining safe work practices;
  • Attending breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Preform Plant and machine upgrades;
  • Undertake modification work as well as general facility maintenance;
  • Understand Technical Drawings;
  • Undertake Mechanical Fitting;
  • Welding (ARC, Mig, Oxy & Acetylene Cutting);
  • Machining of parts; and
  • Maintain a clean workplace.

Success Requirements

  • Successfully completed year 10 or equivalent
  • Willingness to obtain a trade qualification in Fitter/Machinist or Maintenance Fitter
  • Strong commitment to following company policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and understand schematic drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong teamworking skills
  • Good problemsolving skills.
