  • The Family Liaison Officer will provide case management for families of deceased workers and workers who have been seriously injured, including:
  • providing information about WorkSafe Tasmania's role in investigations, prosecutions and coronial inquests;
- engaging in a sensitive and appropriate manner to provide information, assistance and referral to support services; and - providing information about legal and court processes including family support at court hearings. Please note occupants of this role will routinely engage with people who may be distressed and be privy to information of a potentially distressing nature.

Hours per fortnight:

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

Duties:

  • Be the primary contact person at WorkSafe Tasmania following a workrelated death and support the provision of information about WorkSafe Tasmania's role in investigations, prosecutions and coronial inquests and inquiries to the families of deceased workers and workers who have been seriously injured. This includes but is not limited to the provision of regular updates on key investigative milestones.
  • Engage with grieving family members and workers who have been seriously injured in a sensitive and appropriate manner to provide information, assistance and referral to support services (this includes but is not limited to provide counselling supports).
  • Assist families of deceased workers and workers who have been seriously injured by informing them of court procedures, advising and providing support of the likely prosecution and court processes, as well as providing court support when required.
  • Assist families of deceased workers and workers who have been seriously injured to access and utilise outside organisations by liaising with and referring to other relevant agencies.
  • Provide recommendations to WorkSafe Tasmania and other relevant stakeholders about how to support families in a trauma informed way.
  • Liaise with inspectors and lawyers on a regular basis to ensure that updates provided to families and workers who have been seriously injured, are accurate and current.
  • Aid in the preparation of documentation, including internal and external correspondence to support the management of complex cases.
  • Proactively contribute to ongoing policy and program development within WorkSafe Tasmania regarding issues for families, workers who have been seriously injured, and witnesses including the development of resources and publications to support WorkSafe Tasmania's commitment to provide crucial and consistent information to families, people who have been injured at work and the general public.
  • Adhere to all WorkSafe Tasmania's policies and procedures and any legislative requirements relevant to this position including accurately managing relevant databases, files and case notes.
  • Undertake other related activities as directed by the Project Manager, Policy and Projects.

Essential Requirements:


A degree of at least three years duration relevant to the professional duties to be undertaken is required, as provided by a recognised university.


Desirable Requirements:

A current drivers licence.
