With roots in research this specialist Oil and Gas consultancy offers customers advisory services for emerging industries such as geological storage of carbon dioxide and hydrogen, and CO2 EOR/EGR.


individual will join an organisation of technical specialists and will work alongside reservoir engineering, geophysics, geology and regulatory specialists to deliver projects and value for customers.


This role provides an opportunity to progressively build their techno-regulatory skills, as well as their key technical skills, and be capable of providing a seamless framework for the planning and delivery of technical projects.

This framework will be consistent with the regulatory requirements for the sanction of CCUS projects, offshore and onshore.


Central to this role is the delivery of expert technical and techno-regulatory advice to member companies and other stakeholders on technical matters and the support of customer operational plans through the delivery of technical analysis via reports and presentations to satisfy the relevant regulatory requirements.

In addition to this, the incumbent will be required from time-to-time to co-ordinate or contribute to peer reviews of technical outputs and other such deliverables.

The incumbent will contribute to workshops and risk assessments for research and development and commercial projects.


The position will require close liaison with customers as well as other key stakeholders, including the Commonwealth and State governments.

An innovative and creative approach to project conception and planning (with both member companies and external clients) and the ability to identify existing and emerging science and business opportunities, would be well regarded.

The position will suit an individual who is self
- motivated, who is an effective communicator and who has excellent scientific writing skills. Some experience in petroleum and CCUS (and other) regulation, either within government or industry, would be welcomed.

Qualifications:Degree in a geoscience discipline; postgraduate well regarded.

Experience:

A background in oil and gas industry/CCUS industry/technical consulting background/relevant area of government.

A broad technical understanding of the petroleum and CCUS project lifecycle would therefore be an advantage. In addition to this a broad understanding of Australian and overseas sedimentary basins would be advantageous. Experience in techno-regulatory matters preferred but not essential.
