Then the Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) Ranger rehabilitation project is what you're looking for


After more than 35 years operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage and offers an exciting opportunity for you to make a positive impact on the environment.

ERA has engaged the global engineering firm, Bechtel, to support ERA as Delivery Partner for ongoing study work.


Bechtel will be working alongside ERA and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park.


A collaborative project, this project will be developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru community.


Located 8 km east of Jabiru and 260 km south-east of Darwin, the Ranger Project will lead the way in the fast-growing area of mining closures.

The Role:


Working a 2/1 roster from the Jabiru work site in the Northern Territory, as our Project Surveyor, you will be required to provide surveying support to the onsite decommissioning team.


Reporting directly to the Construction Coordinator, you will supervise and/or direct activities relating to plant, equipment, materials, commodities and work closely with Field Engineering to support field verification of materials as appropriate and needed.


We will be relying on you to provide survey related technical support to Field Engineering and Superintendents in a wide range of situation and configurations.

(We have Multi-Disciplined Field Engineering responsibilities covering earthwork, excavation, concrete, structural steel, marine works. installation activities etc.).

Role Responsibilities:

The Surveyor's duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide Construction Survey support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision
  • Establish and/or verify and maintain the project's survey control network
  • Utilize survey instruments in conjunction with Bechtel survey procedures
  • Responsible for the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities
  • Support the survey team's implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs
  • Oversee the development and management of survey data
  • Support the implementation of project's machine control technology
  • Perform Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments
  • Perform and/or check survey computations as required in the performance of duties
  • Provide Civil project completion documentation including "As-Built" records
  • Prepare survey CAD drawings as required in the performance of duties, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volumes computations
  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of the survey training program

About You:

  • Bachelors degree and solid experience in construction/industrial surveying, involving a mix of field and office duties with modern instruments and software.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
