Our Dandenong Manufacturing Site has recently won a contract to build the Next Generation Trams for Melbourne, right here in Melbourne. We are now seeking candidates with the relevant skills and experience to support us with building 100 trams over the next couple of years. Valued at approximately €700 million, the contract includes supply of rolling stock and 15-year maintenance making this the biggest tram contract in Australia and in the Southern hemisphere.

We are currently looking for expressions of interest from qualified Mechanical Fitters.

We have three shifts on offer:

6am to 2:30pm – Day time shift 2pm to – Afternoon shift 10pm to 6:30am – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities:

Read, apply technical documentation supplied Install and assemble railway vehicle components using standard work procedures, hand & power tools Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace and align subassemblies and components Ensuring that all work is efficiently planned in Bogie Shop and Assembly workshop, controlled and undertaken in a safe manner to the standards set down by the customer and Alstom Perform self-Inspection of railway car components in order to identify defects and ensure quality Remove and replace defective parts and components Proficiently cross reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and production targets Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement Organize work instruction documents, tools and railway car parts daily

Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical (or equivalent) Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions Experience in production or assembly would be great but not mandatory Aware of and respect for safety for self and others and a good contributor to the team
