If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Client as the New South Wales State Manager within an established and successful Port Logistics Business.


As the State Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing our entire state business, including a large fleet of heavy vehicles, 3PL warehouses, container freight services, depot services, and repairs and maintenance.

Your role will be pivotal in delivering operational excellence, driving strategic initiatives, and fostering strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective leadership to a team of Managers, ensuring smooth business operations
  • Oversee planning, organizing, and budgeting of transport, 3PL/CFS, and repairs & maintenance functions
  • Implement a robust management system with KPIs to ensure efficient business control
  • Monitor compliance with policies, safety rules, regulations, and contractual obligations
  • Stay updated with transportation and 3PL developments, processes, and legislation
  • Manage budget, expenditures, and capital investments
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to optimise operational costs and revenue flow
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee procurement related to transportation needs
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to improve business performance
  • Foster employee engagement, performance management, and talent development
  • Maintain strong customer relationships, address concerns, and drive continuous improvement
  • Implement best practices, processes, and controls in the business
  • Ensure compliance with WHS regulations and other statutory guidelines
  • Develop and communicate CoRrelated policies and provide necessary training

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Significant experience in complex transport/logistics company
  • Robust experience or demonstrable understanding of
    Container Freight Transport, Depot, Rail and Warehouse Operations:
  • Strong P&L management experience, demonstrating financial acumen
  • Inspirational leadership and a passion for developing others
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
  • Proficient in project management and change management
  • Tertiary education in Business, Logistics, or equivalent and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts and hours as required
  • Strategic thinking and ability to drive change
  • Customeroriented mindset and focus on service excellence
  • Analytical skills with a solid understanding of budgets and P&L
  • Experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Proactive, able to work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of management and distribution systems
