The role you could play


We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Family Support Worker to provide support and a crisis response to women and children victim - survivors in our 24/7 crisis accommodation service.

Reporting to the refuge team leader the facility operates on a rotating roster and provides assistance to approximately 230 women & children per annum.

The role will be instrumental in delivering high quality, safe and effective family violence response to those seeking support, safety and recovery.


The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and children impacted by family and domestic violence.

We offer short term crisis accommodation, medium term, supported transitional housing, children's and parenting services, counselling, outreach support, men's programs, and advocacy and support to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

Your key responsibilities would be

  • Support the case management team in the ongoing implementation of case management plans and create a therapeutic environment within the crisis accommodation setting
  • Work within a client focused, trauma & violence informed framework
  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Build effective relationships with clients that encourage selfdetermination and participation and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care
  • Adhere to the Family Violence Stream vision, mission and values and that of TSA and contribute to a collaborative approach within the team.
There are multiple part-time positions available. Hours vary including days, evening, overnight and weekend shifts. Located in Perth, WA. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 3 Award.

You ideally would have

  • Diploma or Certificate IV qualification in social work, welfare, community services or related field OR demonstrated equivalent knowledge and skills attained through previous appointments, service and study/development
  • Relevant experience working within the Family & Domestic Violence and homelessness sector is desirable
  • Relevant experience in effectively dealing with the impact of trauma
  • A current WA Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
  • Valid Working with Children's Check
