Opportunity Overview

Visy's roots trace back to 1948 in Melbourne, Australia, where we commenced producing corrugated cardboard boxes. Presently, we stand as a prominent privately owned organization specializing in packaging, paper, and recycling. Growth has been and continues to be a cornerstone of Visy's journey, achieved through fulfilling customer requirements and employing resources judiciously.

Pulp & Paper (VPP) forms a substantial segment of Visy's operations. Adhering to global standards and integrating sustainability objectives throughout its processes, VPP generates around 1.5 million tons of paper annually. With eight paper machines stationed across Australia, the facilities fabricate recycled corrugated and kraft paper for the packaging and construction sectors.

As the Senior Plant Accountant for Visy Paper NSW (consisting of 2 Paper Mills), your role will encompass financial, commercial, and managerial assistance. You will play a vital role in persistently evaluating and reporting the paper mill's financial status against predetermined benchmarks.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Recycled Mills National Finance Manager and stationed at our Smithfield site, your primary duty will involve ensuring the accurate and prompt provision of data, reports, and financial models to management as needed and within specified deadlines. Additionally, you will oversee a management accountant.

Key responsibilities will involve, but not be confined to:

Supervising and steering plant accounting operations encompassing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost scrutiny Collaborating with multifunctional teams to pinpoint opportunities for cost-efficiency and enhanced productivity Formulating and upholding robust internal controls and procedures to ensure precise financial reporting Extending financial advice and backing to plant management, influencing strategic decision-making processes Managing month-end conclusion procedures and preparing financial statements Regular system audits, ledger assessments, process evaluations, and implementing accounting tool automation.

Essential Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related domain is obligatory Preferably a CA/ CPA certification (or in progress towards attainment) Substantial expertise in financial leadership roles within a manufacturing environment is preferred Proficient in cost accounting fundamentals, financial analysis, and budget control Proficiency in financial tools and advanced Excel proficiency; familiarity with SAP is advantageous Exceptional communication prowess and the ability to convey intricate financial details in a lucid manner Possesses an analytical mindset with acute attention to details Strong troubleshoot capabilities with a proactive stance towards resolving obstacles Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced setting while handling numerous priorities and stakeholders
