We are looking for a
Toolroom Manager.

Duties

Systematically manage and lead the tooling team:

  • Assess the operating environment, risk, workload and demands
  • Plan and execute strategies that enable achievement of organisational and section objectives
  • Provide direction and priority to staff
  • Manage staff development and performance management
  • Manage succession planning and recruitment.

Oversee the teams manufacturing activities:

  • Safety first: lead the team's safety culture and activities
  • Planning and scheduling
  • Quality management to ISO9001 standards.

Engage with customers and stakeholders:

  • Encourage collaborative and productive teamwork between internal teams
  • Represent the Mint in negotiations with customers and develop relationships
  • Represent the Mint in negotiation with suppliers, and develop relationships.

Drive and support continuous improvement:

  • Project management; scoping, planning, managing
  • Procurement and purchasing
  • Participation in broad projects and programs
  • Develop internal business systems; and support others crossfunctionally
  • Represent the team, branch, and organisation both internally and externally; provide advice to others.

Manage the team's operating budget:

  • Annual budget preparation and monthly review
  • Review and approve expenses
  • Track and analyse expenses.

Provide reporting on team and individual outcomes:

  • Be timely, accurate, and concise.

Skills and abilities

  • Qualifications in Fitting and Machining required. Engineering or Business administration qualifications desirable.
  • Demonstrated management experience in manufacturing, incorporating jobbing and production environments, maintenance, and planning.
  • Performance management experience.
  • Financial management experience; with Commonwealth Public Service knowledge an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 quality management principals.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems, processes engineering principals, LEAN, MRP and ERP.
  • Knowledge and experience in cost centre or project financial management.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, develop and implement business processes considering risk, compliance and objectives.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders on complex and interconnected technical topics.
  • Exceptional technology skills to support effective management and reporting.
