We are now looking for three Dynamic Metallurgists to join our Smelting product line to be responsible for the process design and implementation.

As a process specialist in pyro metallurgy, your main tasks will be designing, implementing, and optimizing modern plants for extractive industry-related ferrous
- and non-ferrous smelters.


You will be working with our product and technology groups for engineering, delivery, and sales functions to provide solutions and offerings in all phases of the product lifecycle; from developing a sales opportunity, to project execution, to commissioning, to warranty support and aftermarket sales.

Active communication, a proactive approach, and a willingness to travel and spend time greater at customer sites are key parts of this job.

The job will be permanent, and the location would be in Finland, Sweden, and Australia. Other locations are negotiable. The most important is that we find a great professional.

As Process Metallurgist, you will start as

  • Supporting the Metso Commissioning Team in all aspects of Operational, Technical Guidance and Supervision of the Customers' production plant personnel
  • Participate in production and equipment problemsolving activities
  • Identify and report operating equipment and process challenges
  • Follows and interacts with maintenance to ensure high plant availability
  • Monitor and interpret process and production data and ensure Work Instructions are followed
  • Provide training and support to Customer personnel where required
In addition, you will gradually work towards achieving the following responsibilities

  • Act as a process specialist in the area of smelting in our Smelting team
  • Carry out multilevel prestudies, feasibility studies, etc. for customers worldwide around varying topics
  • Create/make process calculations and documentation in the Basic Engineering/Detail Engineering projects
  • Carry out site and process audits at the customer site and provide technical smelter expertise to customers from the back office
  • Support preparing proposals to smelter sales and also provide technical support to sales and services for smelter process and equipment
  • Create materials for technical training of the smelter equipment and process, and possibly also participate in giving training both in the back office and at customer sites
  • Participate in cold and hot commissioning at customer sites typically as part of a team
To succeed, we are looking at characteristics for

  • Process Engineering degree in metallurgy, chemical engineering, or process engineering
  • Good understanding of physical/chemical thermodynamics
  • Wish to pursue a deep technical specialist role in your career
  • Ability to efficiently create technical material in written form and convincingly present your results
  • Ability to work independently, but also as a part of the team
  • Good social and cooperation skills in a multinational environment
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines
  • Ability to travel and spend several months abroad
  • Ability to act according to Metso values and leadership principles
  • Language skills: English (written, listening, and oral)
