Join the team at Northern Beaches Hospital, a reputable private hospital dedicated to delivering top-notch care to both public and private patients. We are seeking a dedicated Peer Worker to be a part of our Mental Health Service department. You will collaborate closely with a skilled and diverse team working across various mental health wards.

As a Mental Health Peer Worker, you will leverage your personal experiences to assist individuals through one-on-one consultations, educational sessions, and group interventions that focus on promoting recovery through hope, choice, self-determination, and social connections.

In addition to supporting consumers, you will also play a key role in educating patients, caregivers, and medical staff. Your insights will be valuable in shaping policies, participating in committees, and contributing to research projects.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Hold a relevant qualification (Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work) or have equivalent work background
  • Show evidence of personal experience as a mental health services user, utilizing your journey to guide others while applying evidence-based strategies for wellness
  • Embrace consumer-led recovery principles and possess the ability to develop and implement effective peer interventions
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with various stakeholders and organizations
  • Excellent communication and IT skills
  • Possess a valid NSW driver's license
  • Demonstrate familiarity with consumer participation, Person-Centered Care, Trauma-Informed Care, and relevant mental health legislation
