The Injury Prevention & Wellbeing Officer will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of injury prevention and wellbeing programs, interventions and services that support employee wellbeing across the Department.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the provision of high level support to the team in the delivery of programs and interventions that support employee wellbeing across the Department.
  • Assists with the development of plans, policies and procedures for injury prevention, wellbeing and work health and safety, to promote a culture of wellbeing.
  • Assists the team in the development and delivery of education and appropriate training strategies and programs to promote health and safety, injury prevention and wellbeing to all levels across the Department.
  • Assists with conducting presentations as required.
  • Assists in the provision of injury prevention and wellbeing liaison and consultancy service to staff.
  • Assists with the coordination of health and fitness testing which includes preemployment medicals, psychometric testing and fitness for work assessments.
  • Supports the team to provide an advisory and consultancy service to managers across the Department in relation to injury prevention, wellbeing, ergonomics and health and safety.
  • Assists the team to support employees in the maintenance of long term productivity and wellbeing through the implementation of fitness for work programs.
  • Conducts ergonomic and worksite assessments as well as building and office accessibility assessments.
  • Assists in the provision of information and support to the manager for tender negotiation processes.
  • Represents the Work Health & Safety Unit on committees and working groups as directed.
  • Assists with the development, collation and maintenance of an Injury Prevention and Wellbeing Knowledge Portal.
  • Assists with the facilitation of Employee Support and relevant databases.
  • Assists with the collation, maintenance and analysis of data to report on trends and assist in the development of injury prevention and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Assists in ensuring reports, statistics and records are maintained in line with legislative requirements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience in health and safety and the provision of specialist and technical advice in the areas of wellbeing, injury prevention and management to a range of stakeholders across a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, work independently maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
  • Good interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Ability to work and communicate proactively and effectively independently and within a team environment.
  • Cert IV in work, health & Safety desirable
