Emergency Medicine Consultant for a hospital 1 hour from Melbourne CBD.

Position Summary:
This position is to provide on-site and after hours care of patients in the Emergency Department at a hospital 1 hour east of Melbourne

The Healthcare Group is a sub-regional public hospital providing 77 Hospital and 110 Aged Care beds. They provide acute medical and surgical, paediatric, obstetrics & gynaecology, emergency, aged care and community services.

Qualifications/Experience:

Mandatory:

  • Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM).
  • Experience working in Australian emergency departments in managing adult and paediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical:

  • Undertake medical practice within approved credentialed scope of clinical practice as an Emergency Medicine specialist.
  • Provide evidencebased and quality clinical care of individual patients in all domains of medical practice:
  • Patient interview.
  • Clinical examination.
  • Identification of clinical problems and health opportunities.
  • Plan of overall clinical care and health promotion.
  • Maintenance of concise but comprehensive, accurate, legible records of patient status and progress and associated correspondence.
  • Ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner and maintain flow in the emergency department.

Management:

  • Attend, participate and support administrative meetings as required by the Director of Emergency Medicine or Director of Medical Services.
  • Ensure patient safety and quality clinical care through participation in clinical audits, clinical meetings, peer review and other safety and quality assurance programs.

Leadership:

  • Contribute to the education and training of other clinical staff as required by the Director of Emergency Medicine.
  • Ensure supervision of junior medical staff as required by the Director of Emergency Medicine.

Confidentiality:

  • Ensure that any personal, private or sensitive information obtained regarding a staff member or client remains confidential.

Conditions of Employment:

  • 6 month probationary period.
