Join us in leading the positive impact on the lives of children and young people in out-of-home care in Tamworth We're on the lookout for a Senior Therapeutic Practitioner to lead our Clinical team. Our Clinical team members provide tailored therapeutic interventions aimed at addressing the unique needs of each child or young person we care for to help them overcome trauma and build resilience on their journey to adulthood in Out of Home Care.

The Role:

The Senior Therapeutic Practitioner (STP) provides high-level clinical knowledge and expertise to support children, young people and their carers and families as a senior member of a professional multi-disciplinary team in the Child and Family Permanency Support Program. The STP works with foster carers, family and kin and care team members to ensure children and young people who have experienced trauma, receive positive support and therapeutic care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise and lead a team of up to 6 clinical staff across metropolitan and regional areas;
  • Assist support staff and Therapeutic Specialists to access external clinical support services and supervision where required;
  • Assess and provide feedback on clinical documentation in line with existing policies, procedures and writing guides;
  • Coordinate day-to-day staff processes including recruitment and leave approvals;
  • Instruct, coach and mentor direct support staff and Therapeutic Specialists on the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support plans and therapeutic frameworks as they relate to the provision of reparative care environments;
  • Provide Clinical Specialist – NSW Child and Family appropriate reporting as per requirements;
  • Assist Clinical Specialist – NSW Child and Family to deliver clinical outcomes across the Child and Family program

About You:

We are looking for a Senior Clinical Practitioner who has a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support. Experienced in providing accountable leadership in meeting the needs of individuals. Be committed to meticulous documentation and reporting with a deep commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.

Essential qualifications include:

1. A completed Tertiary Degree from a recognised University in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or related disciplines such as social, criminology, health, behavioral sciences is required for clinicians working in the ITCH/ITTC program, and preferable for clinicians across other programs;

2. Current full, and maintenance of, relevant registration with an appropriate and relevant Registration Body is required for clinicians working in the ITCH/ITTC program and preferable for clinicians across other programs;

3. A minimum of five years' experience in a therapeutic care setting or working in a clinical environment with Children and Young People in OOHC is required for clinicians working in the ITCH/ITTC program, and preferable for clinicians across other programs.

4. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience and the Child Protection and or Out of Home Care Service System,

5. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and operational issues across the Child and Family Services and

6. National Police Check and Working with Children's Check WWCC.

7. Current unrestricted Driver's Licence.
