The Opportunity

We are currently seeking driven and organised Strategic Project Managers. You will report directly to the Managing Director.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of leading and coordinating key strategic projects within the METRONET Office. But note, this is not an engineering or rail project construction role, you won't need high vis. Professional project management qualifications are not an essential requirement.

You will have experience as a strategic leader managing complex work and take a hands-on approach in preparing and executing projects. You won't mind rolling up your sleeves. Much of your work will be independent, with the support from a small but high-performing leadership team.

Your analytical and problem-solving skills are as adept as your communication and strong leadership skills with proven ability to influence and negotiate.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Developing and implementing project plans, leading multidisciplinary, inter-agency and multi-tasked project teams and/or external consultants.
  • Developing project scope and or business cases, and costings.
  • Reporting and risk management strategies.
  • Fostering collaborative relationships across government and externally.

The successful candidates will have:

  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Experience leading and managing strategic projects.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with a range of senior stakeholders across Government and industry.
  • Proven ability in building and sustaining strong working relationships, contributing individually and in collaboration with others to the achievement of project outcomes.
  • Experience in developing complex programs with strong conceptual and analytical skills to facilitate resolution of problems are essential.

There are currently up to 3 fixed term opportunities available for immediate filling until June 2026, with the possibility of extension(s) or permanency.
