The position is a member of a small and passionate Ranger workforce that works in close collaboration with the site's veterinary and leadership team.

The captive wildlife collection includes a broad range of Queensland native macropods, small mammals, birds and reptiles including both freshwater and estuarine crocodiles.

This position is based at the DFWP, Burleigh Heads, and works a five day on and two days off roster, which can include regular weekend work and may also include some public holiday work.

The successful applicant will work independently daily and will require great communication and time management skills. Travel to other locations may be required from time to time and may include overnight stays.


David Fleay Wildlife Park is one of three Gateway Visitor Centres, managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships.

The Centres aim to support Queensland's ecotourism aspirations, enhance visitor learning experiences, build public advocacy for wildlife and protected areas, while also providing a gateway connection to Queensland's national parks.

The Wildlife Park showcases through education the legacy of Dr David Fleay and many iconic threatened species of Queensland.

Partner Centres include Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre at The Gap, Brisbane and Mon Repos Turtle Centre at Bargara in Bundaberg.
