About the role:


It is an exciting time to be part of the energy industry and especially at Powerlink, as we help shape the energy transformation in Queensland and Australia.


The Principal Business Strategist's key role is to guide the development and execution of Powerlink's strategy by working closely with stakeholders across the business to drive strategic change and co-create strategies to ensure the long term strategic value for Powerlink's business.

You will use creative and exploratory processes seeking many possible answers and undertake external and long-term future needs analysis to test the viability of the strategy.


There is significant change occurring at Powerlink and your role will play a key role to assess strategic enterprise options, support, and implement the Queensland Energy and Job Plan (QEJP), and other associated strategic and policy initiatives.

As part of the Strategy team you will be using a range of techniques to help you think about the drivers of change that are shaping the energy future and explore the implications of these for making decisions today.


You will support the strategy design and delivery at different levels and work closely across all divisions to foster strategic choice decision making.

You will drive processes and improvements that will benefit the business and implement them in partnership with your stakeholders. You will proactively build, engage and maintain effective relationships and communication, and collaboration with stakeholders across the business.

About you:


You have experience developing and implementing strategic plans with associated communication and presentation material, and the ability to work within a highly complex policy, technical and regulated environment.

You are experienced in balancing the competing requirements of multiple stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes are achieved for corporate strategy.


You have worked within teams in a complex technical environment in a previous role and are a measured and influential strategist with the ability to translate complex concepts for the target audience.

You are a strategic thinker and self-starter with a commercial approach to business and strong communication and stakeholder management skills, from your teammates through to the Chief Executive.
