ABOUT THE ROLE


The purpose of the Community Rehabilitation Support Worker is to provide psychosocial support services which focus on client - determination, empowerment, hope and belief that recovery from a mental illness is possible.

Help people with significant and ongoing mental health concerns to live well in their community by providing safe, secure, and affordable housing with in-home and community support from mental health services

The roster will be based on 70 hours per fortnight with active night shifts.

Hours are 10pm to 8am for the following nights:
Week - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing psychosocial rehabilitation and support services that are flexible and responsive to peoples' needs, including up to 24hour support in some locations if and when required.
  • Providing clinical mental health care and rehabilitation services which are individualised, flexible, responsive and support recovery.
  • Supporting individuals to build their skills and capacity to live independently in the community.
  • Improving individuals' quality of life, health, and wellbeing
  • Preventing or reducing hospital admissions and crisis service usage
  • Evaluating the program and using this to further supported accommodation options which will support consumers to live independently within the community.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health or Alcohol and Other Drugs.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain in first three (3) months of employment
  • Current Driver Licence and a roadworthy vehicle/fully insured and willing to drive for work purposes.
  • Previous experience working within mental health
  • Previous experience in working with people with alcohol and other drugs addiction
  • Demonstrated ability to positively engage, interact and work with people who have complex needs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Recovery Framework and the underlying principles.
  • Welldeveloped verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from Diverse Cultural Backgrounds with specific reference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
