About You

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work for the
_Healthy Environments And Lives (HEAL)_ Network funded by NHMRC.

HEAL Network aims to catalyse research, knowledge exchange and translation into policy and practice that will bring measurable improvements to our health, the Australian health system, and the environment.

The HEAL Network is a broad coalition of investigators and organisations from across Australia that aims to bridge the gap between knowledge and action by bringing together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wisdom, sustainable development, epidemiology, and data science and communication to address environmental change and its impacts on health across all Australian states and territories.


HEAL's programme of research and translation aims to:

  • Protect and improve public health, especially the health of at-risk groups in regions and communities disproportionately affected by environmental and climate change;
  • Strengthen health system resilience, preparedness and responsiveness to changing environmental conditions and related diseases, and reduce the health system's environmental impact; and
  • Reduce inequities and inequalities within and across communities and generations.
To be successful in this position, you'll meet the following Key Selection Criteria:

  • Research experience in one or more of the following domains: urban planning, urban heat island, housing, air quality, heat and health.
  • Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build professional relationships within and beyond the HEAL Network.
  • Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight timeframes and to manage conflicting priorities in a commercial research environment.-
  • Excellent report writing and academic writing skills.
