Wood is recruiting for a Senior Commercial Advisor to join our Operations business in Australia & Asia Pacific West (APAC West). Based in Perth CBD, this is a permanent role and is available as full-time / part-time (job share) basis.

Wood's Operations APAC West business delivers brownfields and maintenance engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation, and technical services to the Oil & Gas sector and enjoys long-term partnerships with the region's most prominent producers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and South-East Asia.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, the primary focus of your role will be to provide day to day commercial administration and management (including full contract lifecycle across pre-award and post-award phases) to key client on a brownfields engineering contract. In this fast-paced role, you will partner with a diverse range of internal stakeholders including operational and functional teams to support commercial risk management and maximise value creation for Wood.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for:

  • Administering the contract in accordance with the Contract, Wood Policies and Procedures including Tender Governance, Financial Management Framework, Project Governance Dashboard Reviews and Risk Reviews.
  • Supporting the Contract Manager in the mobilisation and transition of the contract ensuring all commercial and contractual agreements are met.
  • Engaging directly with the Client Commercial & Procurement team to respond to any queries, provide or respond to notices and executing any changes or variations as required.

In addition, you will also:

  • Promote a safe working practices within commercial function
  • Work closely with the proposals team to perform pre-award activities including:
    • Commercial review of tender documents
    • Preparing commercial proposals including tender prices and estimates
    • Preparing commercial qualifications and pricing notes
    • Coordinating commercial and legal qualifications
    • Supporting the Tender Governance process at tender preparation, submission and completion stages
  • Perform post award administration including:
    • Ensuring contracts are set up correctly in the appropriate business system
    • Ensuring invoices are prepared in a timely and accurate manner
    • Provide support to contract management teams to ensure commercial and contractual entitlements are understood
    • Undertake rate reviews
    • Ensuring change is captured in contract variations/amendments
  • Provide commercial support to a small team of contract finance personnel to ensure contractual and commercial compliance
  • Prepare monthly commercial management reports and input to monthly Contract Performance Reviews
  • Liaise with various internal customers (Contract/Project Managers, Engineers) in all areas of commercial management, problem solving and dispute resolution
QUALIFICATIONS

You will be an Australian citizen or be eligible to hold Permanent Residency (PR) to work lawfully in Australia. Those with visa applications already in progress are also encouraged to apply.

Ideally, you be a driven self-starter who is confident to integrate fully into the contract team. You will have 5+ years' experience in a commercial role managing on the contractor side within Oil & Gas, Mining, or Infrastructure sector. An undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, quantity surveying, construction management (or similar discipline) will be well regarded.

In addition, you will have:
  • Knowledge of key contracting concepts, principles and commercial risk management
  • Knowledge and experience of commercial administration processes and procedures
  • Proven experience in drafting and interpretation of contractual documentation.
