Jaghu Health Worker Maternal and Infant

The Advanced Health Worker, Maternal and Infant role functions within a multi-disciplinary team to promote and deliver efficient, effective, clinically relevant and culturally appropriate patient outcomes for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families within the Jaghu Program.
This role will also provide information and resources that enhances the ability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients to make appropriate health care choices and navigate through the health care system.
About youProven ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (including patients, carers and communities) within a health-related context and having a clear understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols and health related procedures.
- Proven ability to communicate with individuals sensitively and appropriately from diverse cultural backgrounds while advocating on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbally), including preparing complex reports. The proven ability to respond directly to concerns of patients, carers and family members in an appropriate manner.
- Proven ability to exercise accountability and responsibility to ensure quality systems capture both patient specific and relevant statistical data, inclusive of collection, collation and reporting towards improving Indigenous Health outcomes.
- Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, antidiscrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/1
- Vaccinated against COVID19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
