This is an opportunity for a high-achieving postdoctoral researcher to join a world-leading research group in Computer Security and Machine Learning as well as Computer Science department ranked 48th in the world and The University of Adelaide ranked in the top 1% of Universities worldwide.

The discoveries to come out of the project will significantly increase our understanding of planning under uncertainty for multi-target tracking.

This project represents a unique opportunity to produce future expertise for the Australian workforce, not only in university research, but also in industry.


To be successful at Level A you will need:

  • PhD (or soon to be awarded) OR equivalent industry experience in
  • Robotics
  • Signal Processing/Control
  • Path Planning/Trajectory Planning
  • Multi-Target Tracking/Multi-Object Tracking,
  • Bayesian Filtering, Radom Finite Set filters or closely related multitarget tracking approaches
  • NeRF
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to tailor communication skills when interacting with students, researchers, professional staff and external stakeholders.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with an ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience, both orally and written.
  • A strong work ethic, and the ability to work well independently, and as a member of a broader team, including with industrial partners.
  • Programming experience and expertise in Python and/or Julia and/or Matlab and/or C++.

In addition to the above, to be successful for Level B you will also need:
***Experience in state estimation, target tracking, and data fusion algorithms such as Kalman filtering, Particle filtering, and Multiple-hypothesis tracking.

  • A strong track record of high quality research as evidenced by publications in leading journals and at conferences.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and development with limited supervision.
  • The ability to work as a member of a broader team, including with industrial partners.
