This role offers an initial 1 year opportunity, with 3 x 6 month extension options.

About the role:

  • The Commonwealth requires the services of a Level 3 Training Manager to be the training lead for the Interim Battle Management System (iBMS) at Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC) supporting the iBMS Project Manager.

A Battle Management System (BMS) is designed to enhance the land tactical commanders situational awareness, and facilitate execution of complex, dispersed and high temp operations, while increasing the speed of the decision action cycles.

Army has identified the need to develop an interim BMS capability that has been tasked to LNIC to develop and deliver an interim solution to support Army's requirements until Land 200-3 delivers an enduring solution.

It is expected that the majority of services delivered under this contract will be at the LNIC facility in Symonston, ACT, or remotely as agreed.

Some interstate travel may be required to support project stakeholder acquisition and sustainment activities, working groups, as well as field trials or exercises.

International travel may be required to support coalition Army engagement priorities and exercises.

Role requirements:

  • Oversight and participate in development and delivery of iBMS and associated capability training programs to Army, Navy and CIOG units

Training would include:
Level 1 and 2 technical support for Army IT Specialists, Operators and Technician employment category personnel and Navy Communications and Information Systems and Electronic Technician trades;
System Planners and Managers support for Army Warrant Officers and Officers; and
Level 2 and 3 technical support for strategic support agencies.
Review and update the training packages for iBMS pre-requisite training, Introduction into Service training, and Gap training.
Maintain configuration management of all training material and training systems.
Participate in training and post training delivery assessment reviews to capture user and technical feedback.

Incorporate feedback into Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL) and Army Training Instructions (ATIs) documents including: Training Implementation Plan, Learning Management Packages and assessment material.

Align the training delivery approach to Army employment category specifications and Navy trade mustering continuums.

Support the iBMS Project Manager, Systems Integrator and Vendor training resources in investigating options for training delivery improvements such as embedding training into existing Defence Force School of Signals curriculums, repeatable delivery mechanisms including computer based training, or augmentation to other Defence deployed ICT initiatives.

Attend workshops and training reviews, and actively participate (or lead as directed) training implementation related discussion.
Provide oversight, review and guidance to Systems Integrator training resources, as well as Vendor training resources.
Actively engage key training stakeholders within the services FORCOMD Training Branch and COMTRAIN. Engagement with additional key Stakeholder (CATNI and NITAT) requirements are to be satisfied.
Provide training guidance, support and advice to the iBMS Project Manager to ensure Board project outcomes are achieved.

Qualifications & experience:

  • Experience working within the Defence Training Environment or previous training development.
Good working knowledge and understanding of the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL) Process.
Certificate 4 in workplace and Assessment qualification or demonstrated prior experience in training development.
