The Role

We have an exciting position available for an Instrumental Music Tutor, with a special focus on the Violin to join our team across our Wheelers Hill Campus (Primary and Secondary).

The Instrumental Music Tutor is responsible for teaching within the music department and the recruitment of instrumental students while nurturing relationships with all music students across the different campuses of the Caulfield Grammar School.

In this role, the Music Tutor will focus on the following programs,

  • Year 2 Instrumental Program
  • Year 7 Instrumental Program
  • Private Suzuki Violin/Viola tuition
  • Direction of two String Ensembles
  • Teaching Suzuki Group Classes.

Our passionate Strings team is seeking an accomplished, qualified Violin/Viola tutor who is currently completing or has attained their Primary Suzuki Accreditation to commence from Week 1, Term 3, 2024. This is a 12-month casual opportunity, to start in Term 3, working 3 days a week and be split in between two applicants, with the option for job sharing if one candidate does not have the necessary qualifications to teach all programs.

Key Duties

  • Act as an inspirational tutor, performer and mentor who models the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours
  • Be a dynamic, innovative and motivating musician
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students and staff
  • Contribute to a highly motivated team
  • Collaborate with the Head of Strings to support development of the whole school music program.
  • Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven tutoring experience within a school music programme using Suzuki Accreditation or currently working towards the Suzuki Accreditation
  • Ability to tutor and engage primary and secondary aged students
  • Ability to conduct and select repertoire for String Orchestras
  • Experience in delivering Suzuki Group Classes
  • Hold or willing to obtain an Employment Working With Children Check.
