Job Description

As a result of a substantial project pipeline, AECOM's Western Australian Resource and Industry Business Line is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer specialized in Materials Handling to contribute to the successful execution of projects in Western Australia, Australia, and globally.

Joining a vibrant consulting environment, you will engage in various projects within the Mining sector and related industries, covering surface and underground mine operations, and working with commodities like Iron Ore, Alumina, Gold, Manganese Ore, among others.

This role offers exposure to mining, mineral processing, chemicals, and defense sectors, paving the way for valuable career development.

What to Expect in This Role:

  • Engage with Tier 1 Mining clients, focusing on mining infrastructure, materials handling, and surface infrastructure for brownfield and greenfield projects
  • Lead Mechanical Engineer responsibilities include study management and technical leadership
  • Serve as the primary contact with the client and the AECOM Design Team
  • Utilize your expertise as a Technical Specialist to drive technical outcomes and lead the Project Team

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly preferred for this role, but if you don't meet all the requirements, don't hesitate to apply - all applications will be reviewed:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with consultancy or owners side experience, demonstrating a solid understanding of Front End Loading approach to project delivery
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Project Management RPEQ / CPEng (preferred)
  • Proven track record in managing Design, Engineering, and Consulting projects
  • Strong networking skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Experience in delivering successful project outcomes from inception to completion, showcasing commercial acumen
  • Proficiency in Helix or similar conveyor design software
  • Experience in designing crushing, grinding, and screening equipment
  • Advantageous to have Alumina industry exposure and DEM analysis skills
  • Expertise in designing mining plant, infrastructure, materials handling, and fluid handling systems and equipment
  • Adaptability is essential, being able to jump into projects quickly and deliver high-quality work outputs
