About the team
We are the custodians of Transport's finances.

We partner with our stakeholders to achieve their objectives while delivering value for money with a focus on achieving efficiencies in our programs.


Sitting within the Finance and Investment division, this team looks after the finance function for the Customer Experience division at Transport.

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team provide high-quality financial information and business support to the Executives for their respective portfolios to support efficient and effective management of resources and budgeting, assist the facilities to meet their financial targets, obligations and KPIs.

The FP&A team work closely with Finance Business Partner team to bring key financial and commercial insights to the decision-making process on financial matters of the division and branches.


The opportunity


Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst
to join us in the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team for a
12-month Fixed term opportunity.


The role is to provide a range of financial management services to meet internal and external reporting and analysis requirements, statutory compliance requirements and support the achievement of business objectives.


You'll provide critical support to, and work closely with, the Finance Business Partnering Branch to support our stakeholders across the business.


  • Support collaboration and information flow with central teams to assist in the balancing of legislative and accounting standard compliance with the achievement of business needs in line business principles by implementing and monitoring financial policies, guidelines and business rules.
  • Support in the preparing of detailed "bottom up" financial data inputs (budget and forecast) and commentary to assist in producing reliable and robust financial information, including financial statements, Treasury submissions and inputs to other financial management reporting and analysis.
  • Undertake research to assist with financial analysis and reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial data and identify risk areas. This includes monitoring of monthly results for transactional issues with accruals, prepayments, capitalisation, and project costing allocations.
  • Support and coordinate analysis of issues, opportunities and options related to management accounting outcomes as directed to support optimisation against outcomes over time.

About you
You are a passionate Financial Analyst looking to make a difference at Transport for NSW.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in management accounting, you will have demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate financial data to stakeholders
  • You are tertiary qualified (Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related discipline) with relevant industry experience
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced excel skills
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP
  • Proactive cando attitude

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is Grade 7A ($108, E ($121,822) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
