Lecturer in Environmental Geology

  • Full time ongoing position
  • Based in Hobart
  • Conduct research within the Centre for Ore Deposits and Earth Sciences (CODES) and teach in the discipline of Earth Sciences.


The Centre for Ore Deposit and Earth Sciences is widely regarded as a global leader in ore deposit research and training delivering high quality research outcomes and training of direct relevance to the mining industry nationally and internationally, working across the mining value chain from exploration through sustainable mining and mineral processing to best-practice environmental management of mineral resources.


The Opportunity


Participate in and develop research targeted at growing the position of UTAS as a national and international research provider in the field of geoenvironmental contamination and remediation with an emphasis on issues associated with the minerals industry and government agencies, including Mineral Resources Tasmania.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Undertake highquality research of national and increasingly of international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and contribute to the successful supervision of research higher degree students.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate and postgraduate coursework teaching.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline.

Your Application

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, with expertise in one or more of the following: Environmental geoscience, environmental mineralogy, environmental geochemistry, environmental geophysics or hydrogeology.
  • A good record of, and continuing commitment to, research that has achieved national recognition and made worthwhile contributions to the geoenvironmental field.
  • Experience in Universitylevel teaching and learning.
  • Experience in conducting field and/or laboratorybased geoenvironmental research.

Remuneration


Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $142,799 comprising base salary within the range of $105,131 to $122,050 plus 17% superannuation.
