The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) provides care for more than 400,000 people living in the northern metropolitan area of Adelaide and boasts newly redeveloped wards and Emergency and Outpatient Departments, with plans for the addition of more brand-new facilities in the near future.

NALHN provides a full range of high-quality medical, surgical, maternity, diagnostic, emergency and support services.

NALHN offers a range of primary health care services across the northern metropolitan area of Adelaide, with a focus on providing preventive and health promoting programs in the community, and transition and hospital substitution and avoidance programs targeted at chronic disease and frail aged.

Our 400-plus Allied Health professionals play an integral role in multidisciplinary teams delivering exceptional care to patients across our acute, subacute and hospital avoidance services.

The Northern Adelaide Rehabilitation Service (NARS) provides:

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation
  • 52 beds Modbury Hospital
  • Rehabilitation in the Home (RITH) 30 virtual community 'beds'
  • Day Rehabilitation Service (DRS)
  • Northern Adelaide Pain Rehabilitation Service
  • Specialist outpatient clinics (including spasticity clinics, driving assessment, orthotics/ prosthetics clinics, and hydrotherapy)


The Social Worker is accountable to the Senior Manager of NARS for the provision assessment and treatment services for inpatients and outpatients of NALHN, which aims to optimise health outcomes.

In this role you may rotate through a series of clinical services.


The Social Worker applies clinical experience, clinical knowledge and professional competence to plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive and integrated services to the needs of clients of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network.

In this role you will work under direct clinical supervision and may provide direction and support to allied health assistants and students.


The Social Worker works collaboratively with the Allied Health multi-disciplinary team and liaises directly with medical, nursing staff of NALHN and with other community agencies.


To be eligible for this position you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

In addition to the mandatory vaccination requirements for all SA Health roles under this Policy SA Health workers must also comply with any vaccination requirements imposed under legislation (including any directions under the _Emergency Management Act 2004 _or the _South Australian Public Health Act 2011_) and any mandatory vaccination requirements under the terms and conditions of employment of employees.
