We're looking for a
Design Manager to join our
Project Management Group.
Our
WA Project Management team supports our clients in the planning and delivery of significant facilities and infrastructure projects. Our core business is to provide Project Management, Design Management and Contract Administration services.

We manage the planning and delivery of major capital works projects that include national projects for the Department of Defence and infrastructure projects across the Pacific and in the Indian Ocean Territories for both Defence and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.

In addition, we provide support to the wider GHD network to deliver landmark infrastructure and property and buildings projects. With the view to continue to diversify this service offering, it is an exciting time to join the team.


As
Design Manager you will manage the design and construction process, leading the design team and other project team members for major capital works building and infrastructure projects ($50m+) to meet the required quality standards and within the project budget and program constraints.

The position will be responsible for the GHD project performance including managing GHD's technical inputs, evaluating technical performance and troubleshooting issues.

You will front both external and internal clients to communicate the design as it evolves and as it is delivered.


Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Leading the technical work with the client, ensuring project technical risks are identified and handled
  • Positioning as the interface management between technical fields/packages
  • Supporting the Project Director and Project Manager in project financial, quality and delivery schedule matters
  • Providing input to the budgeting process including forecasting resource requirements
  • Providing leadership to the design team, in line with GHD's values
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs resulting in satisfactory deliverables

What you will bring to the team

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Interstate and/or international experience on major capital works infrastructure projects
  • At least 15 years experience in the design and delivery of major projects with experience in delivery of major infrastructure projects preferred
  • A broad range of experience, including exposure to both consulting and contracting would be highly regarded
  • Strong commercial skill, with an ability to identify and decisively handle project risks and opportunities as they arise
  • Experience in the delivery of projects using 3D design tools and a detailed understanding of BIM processes and workflows is essential
  • The ability to lead and encourage others, to make decisions and take ownership; advise and hold others to account; provide support and inspiration to help others succeed
  • AU Citizenship to ensure appropriate security clearances for Defence projects
