The Facility
Be a part of a premier Tertiary level 3 Teaching Hospital boasting almost 400 beds and a committed team of approximately 1,700 professionals. Catering to a varied populace of 200,000, including urban, regional, and remote Aboriginal communities, this hospital, affiliated with Flinders University, houses a Medical School on its premises. It holds ACEM accreditation as a major referral center for advanced emergency training over two years. With a focus on fostering both personal and professional growth, this hospital creates an ideal environment for an Endocrinologist looking to propel their career.

Primary Objective
We are on the lookout for a devoted Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Top End Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service. Your primary responsibility in this role will be to deliver exceptional psychiatric clinical services, ensuring the utmost quality of patient care. Additionally, you will actively engage in educational endeavors at the Northern Territory Clinical School, concentrating on educating medical students in psychiatry and contributing to the Post Graduate Psychiatry Training Program under the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry. The selection for this position will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications, determining whether they fit the role of a Specialist Consultant (SC) or Senior Specialist Consultant (SSC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric clinical services to address patients' mental health requirements.
  • Engage actively in teaching psychiatry to medical students at the Northern Territory Clinical School.
  • Participate in the Post Graduate Psychiatry Training Program, aiding in the grooming and education of future psychiatrists.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in psychiatric practices and incorporate them into clinical and educational settings.

The Requirements:

  • Must be registered with AHPRA and possess a minimum of 12 months of recent Endocrinology experience.
  • Should be on the RANZCP training program.
  • Hold the FRANZCP qualification.
  • IMGs eligible for Competent Authority Pathway from the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, or NZ.
  • IMGs with RANZCA interview date.
  • IMGs assessed by RANZCA and deemed substantially comparable.
