The Data Processing Unit (DPU) team is all about combining cutting-edge software and hardware skills to develop a highly programmable ASIC that excels in efficiently managing large data streams. With its integrated design, this solution allows for enhanced agility and performance compared to traditional CPU-based options.

We are currently seeking a Principal DPU Software Engineer - Confidential Compute to play a pivotal role in shaping our DPU's confidential compute infrastructure. In this position, you will lead the design and implementation of DPU runtime software features related to confidential computing. Collaboration with hardware engineers, firmware engineers, and system architects will be key to ensure that the DPU software stack meets stringent security, performance, and scalability standards. Furthermore, you will work closely with various Microsoft teams to integrate the DPU solution into diverse cloud scenarios and applications, driving innovation in cloud computing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 6+ years of experience in coding with languages like C, Python, and assembly
  • 4+ years of embedded software development and system design experience
  • 3+ years in SW / HW interfaces, simulations, and systems bring-up
  • Proven track record of delivering reliable software products at scale
  • Expertise in secure runtimes such as L4/seL4, QNX, or hypervisors
  • Hands-on experience with silicon emulation platforms like FPGA
  • Experience in developing software for high-performance I/O applications

Other Qualifications:

Eligibility to meet security screening requirements set by Microsoft, customers, and/or government

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 8+ years of experience in coding with languages like C, C++, Python, assembly, and rust
  • Strong background in embedded software development and kernel expertise
  • Demonstrated capabilities in systems design
  • Extensive experience in shipping reliable software products to a wide user base
  • Proficiency in high-performance distributed & asynchronous operating systems
  • Experience in secure runtimes for highly secure deployments

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of core DPU runtime software, collaborating with silicon design teams on confidential compute features
  • Develop secure extensions for a high-performance runtime tailored for custom silicon
  • Work with partner teams to align strategies and enhance project execution
  • Provide technical leadership to promote best practices in embedded software design
  • Identify and drive initiatives for process improvement and increased productivity within the team
