Group Treasury - Capital


Being part of Group Treasury means you will provide strategic advice to our businesses, collaborating to ensure Macquarie has the resources needed to meet our ongoing commercial requirements and pursue growth opportunities.

The Capital team is responsible for management of the Group's capital position and credit ratings.

The team develops frameworks to determine the appropriate amount and mix of capital, considering regulatory, ratings agency, debt investor and shareholder expectations; and recommends and executes on capital actions.

Help transform our Group Treasury function and evolve the future of finance at Macquarie.


This unique role involves supporting a business unit aligned team within the Group Treasury Transformation Programme on using data to solve analytical problems primarily in the regulatory capital domain, but with scope to grow into and liquidity risk management too.


You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the implementation of the inhouse capital engine and, under the guidance of a SME, using your data handing skillset to prepare extensive test data sets across the full spectrum of business unit products
  • With guidance from SMEs, using your coding skills to develop automated test processes that replicate the regulatory capital rules for APS 112 and APS 113 to allow testing of the new capital engine
  • Developing a deep understanding of a business units product data and associated source systems, to support the development of databased solutions to ad hoc queries in the regulatory capital or liquidity risk domain.


Exposure to Basel capital or liquidity rules are an advantage but an interest in financial risk is a must as is the ability to work with large data sets.

What you will bring to team and the role:

  • Drive with outstanding attention to detail, a learning mindset, flexibility and adaptability
- numerate with an active interest in understanding data and what is represents
- fluency in a data management tool such as Alteryx, SQL or R/ Python

  • Comfort communicating your thoughts and opinions to SME and peers
- ability to foster and build a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders

Finally, you will:
- be curious, always asking "How can we do this better"
- be bold, seeing challenges as opportunities that can be overcome as a team
- have a tertiary qualification, preferably in business, finance, a quantitative field or similar
- have good communication skills and the ability to explain how you arrived at your conclusion
